About Bamboogle

At Bamboogle we aim to provide our customers with an eco-friendly masterpiece that combines sustainable raw material and unparalleled modern craftsmanship.

Bamboo is a fascinating resource and an exciting material to work with. Requiring absolutely no fertilizers or chemical treatments of any kind, our bamboo comes out of the earth at 10” in diameter and grows 3 feet per day for 30 days until it reaches nearly 100 feet tall. That’s like watching a telephone pole sprout up on its own in a month! This rapid growth causes bamboo to consume massive amounts of carbon dioxide – the #1 greenhouse gas – and produce pure oxygen at a rate that exceeds any forest in the world. Some might think that because bamboo stalks are hollow they are somehow brittle. Nothing could be further from the truth. Substantially harder than Maple, Bamboo has a density that rivals Oak.

Each piece of Bamboogle furniture has its own unique story that starts with the Bamboo itself.  Unlike the soft Bamboo of lowland China, our Bamboo is born at the top of the Anji Mountains. In that harsher climate the Bamboo earns its characteristic strength by enduring a cyclical freezing and thawing process that hardens its resin. From there the Bamboo is taken and kiln-dried. It is then hand-cut, hand-sanded, and hand-made transforming the raw material into an eco-friendly work of art resulting bamboo furniture. Each piece of Bamboogle furniture has its own unique character; its genesis can be traced through its Bamboo birthmarks and its final form bears the thumbprint of the craftsman.

Our furniture comes in an array of styles and finishes. Our BEACH finish comes straight from Bamboo’s natural color. Similar to Birch, its shades recall the sand dunes found on the beaches of the eastern seaboard. Our darker HONEY OAK finish is achieved through a steaming process that brings out the natural sugars in the bamboo and caramelizes them throughout before it is cut and laminated into lumber. If you are more of a rustic who prefers dark leather and deep coffee accents, then our EBONY stain will fit perfectly in your color palate. Resembling something between obsidian and dark chocolate,  our JAVA CHOCOLATE accents change and evolve in appearance as the lighting moves throughout the day.

With over 40 years of combined experience in the world of home décor, and 5 years in furniture development, Bamboogle was founded by Charlie Kirkwood, Linda Kirkwood, and Joe Gallegos.
